Lately revisited one of my favorite talking heads songs AND discovered one of my new fave songs from Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. Both are about home -- assertions that a physical place of home does not exist, it is about the people you are with. The older I get and the more I move the more I realize this is true. I have come to collect so many geographical homes because of the incredible people all over the world who have captured my mind and my heart. And it just feels right to have a massive map of Washington State on my wall, an oil of the canal houses of Amsterdam, an artistic rendition of the Boston T stop layout, and an Ansel Adams photo of the beach in San Diego.
All alone in the apartment this weekend, for some reason it doesn’t feel quite like home. Fill it will lovely people though and ta-da! Instant homecoming.
